Custom Sonic Screwdriver - Battle Damaged!

Writer: Pointy End PropsPointy End Props

The idea behind this design is really interesting - essentially taking the classic sonic screwdriver design, and remagining it as if it'd been nearly completely destroyed, and rebuilt using scrap parts on some alien world..

To do this, we replaced the classic silver handle with a copper handle designed to look more like an alien screwdriver version. This was then heavily weathered by adding dents and a large hole, as well as a silver panel creating the look of a rushed repair job. The whole handle was then antiqued to give a heavily aged and oxidised look, and finished with some exposed wiring and a lovely view of the internal spring mechanism! It was fun experimenting with the kind of damage we could do - we think the hole with the exposed wiring looks like it could have exploded from within - but it's easy to imagine the damage to the top end being caused by a stray lazer...

The rest of the body was similarly distressed and damaged, with additional copper pipes being added along with brass details, with remnants of red paint inspired by the emitter ring on the original screwdriver design. All this was finished off with a cracked LED in place of the original emitter, and it was done - a custom designed constructed/destroyed/reconstructed/patched up/war torn-like screwdriver!
