Wizards Vs Aliens - Staff of Crowe!

A prop from a Russel T Davies classic this week, but probably not the one you were expecting...

This piece is based on the "Staff of Crowe", welded by Annette Badland's "Ursulau Crowe" in Wizards vs Aliens. One of our more ambitious pieces, but alot of fun to get back to traditional wood carving!

The twisted shaft of the cane is carved from solid beech and stained, with a mix of powered machinery and traditional carving tools being used to give it an antique, weathered appearance. The staff is adorned with steel fittings, which have been coloured gold using a hot brass brushing technique.

The amber topper of the cane was sculpted by hand and cast in solid resin, with an extra detail embedded within..

The amber crystal is also lit up via a small torch in the handle, which looks pretty spectacular in the dark!
